I've said this before but I never could understand why Beauty left him with an egg that was obviously hatching. Oh well-all turned out good!

I really believe that Beauty knew exactly what she was doing at that moment.  Beauty and Doc.ca's relationship was not the best, and as someone here said, he still seems more bonded to Miss Pigott.  I think that Beauty wanted to be sure he bonded with baby.  She Knew what Doc.ca was capable of...didn't he demonstrate with her?Beauty is one smart falcon
