I think that's the same eyas-she saw him intending to head out again
She did that to Orion a couple times last year, grabbed him by the nape of his neck and dragged him over to her.

Another blue bird!!
I know they have to eat but when I saw this, it made me sad. We have a momma Bluebird brooding 4 eggs in our backyard BB box right now.

I think it's a blue jay, not a bluebird.

I disagree, unfortunately. It has reddish feathers near the neck.
The only down-side to watching. Sigh...

This is sooo cute. THis little runaway! Such a good mama! This one has to be a girl; giving her mom a run for her money! Beauty is such a great mama, and in such heat!

This one underguard? the one who has been dragged back from the edge? It has to be a girl: "Run-around Sue". And if it's a boy? "A boy named Sue". Has to be Sue. I know there was a Susan B. Anthony...but this she will be Run around Sue.

I thought so too. I think it may be a young blue jay. I'm trying to figure out where they would be getting blue birds in the city. Usually they nest in field areas. I've always had a hard time with "prey" - but I must becoming inured to it as I show people these shots from the nest, and they can't believe that I can see/tolerate/watch this. People who know me know my love for all winged creatures, and I have to think and explain that this is "life" and what keeps some of our most endangered birds alive. It is difficult to see, and I do pass by many pictures, shots, photos, but I also recognize that this is what keeps them alive. Anyone else have this quandry?

Which one? "Run around Sue" by Dion DiMucci? Or "Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash? Both in my head too!

It's often thought Peregrines do not hunt at night. I just happened to look over at the computer and put my headphones on in time to hear DC's incoming call and Beauty come out of the box to accept a prey delivery from DC at 1:38AM. You can just make DC out on the corner of the deck, on the other side of the main cam. He did not stay long. I barely had enough time to get the recorder up. All the eyasses were hungry and ready to eat. What a wonderful set of parents these kids have!

It's 3:16AM and Beauty is feeding again. I just shut my computer down 10 min ago! Looking at archive photos, DC made delivery at 3:04AM and looks like he stayed longer this time! I was just thinking about how these kids are very squirmy. Poor Beauty can't get any rest because as soon as they quiet down, one moves and disrupts the whole fluff ball pile! They sure are talkative eyasses!
I don't have ability to post/save pictures in this device, so will insert pictures tomorrow.
I am just amazed to be finding food deliveries made at this time of night! Wish I could tell what kind of prey. The 3:05am cam 2 picture has a good view of Beauty bringing in prey and DC on corner.
Based on these deliveries, I'm guessing he is now staying downtown at night.
Beauty fed until 3:34am. DC stayed on deck, at corner. She then left for about 1-2 minutes while DC stayed. When she returned at 3:36am, he is no longer on stills.
