Someone is watching in Toronto?

I sure was, along with Linda Woods, and it was just great!!!  What a champ that Sunshine is!  Really flew quite well, landed well enough, flapped around with gusto!!  It was really delightful to watch!  I really hoped that she'd stay put on the Hilton, but, hey, that gal has her own mind and did what she felt she had to do!  And did much better than I thought she would!  She flew strongly, with good co-ordination, and, despite the strong wind gusts, made it as far up as she did impressively, landed quite well, not just "by accident"!!  I was totally impressed...once I started breathing again!!  And she's just fine where she is until the morning and she will be watched over by her parents and by Harry, a dedicated and practised watcher, first thing!  She certainly made my day!!  2thumbsup

I had sent a bunch of Sunshine's pre-fledge pictures to Mark Nash, not expecting him to have time to look at them for quite a while and I got a nice note back in the wee hours of this morning...with this request...

PLEASE APOLOGIZE FOR US, as we are all suffering from sleep deprivation with 14 plus hours in the streets, and by the time you get home at 10 to 11pm, most of us only have enough energy to eat and go to bed knowing that 5am come early and we’re back in the streets doing another 12 to 14 hours.  After the travel time getting to and from the various sites, it doesn’t leave much time for sleep in between.

Obviously, no apology is needed! Personally, I don't know how CPF manages to cover so many sites so successfully!  So, thank you to all the fledge watchers no matter where you are for keeping the babies safe!

The dedication of Mark Nash and his crew goes far above and beyond.  He deserves my heartfelt admiration for their work, especially at this time of the year!

You've been putting in a LOT of full days watching, too!!
So glad you got to see that and that it went so well!

Anne, you are doing awesome!  Fledge watches are not for the faint-hearted!  I always think of Dan S, our veteran watcher since our Mariah and Cabot, who always says he hates the first week!  The flying is usually pretty good but the landings can be  scared blue

Our beautiful Rhea Mae, flew to the smokestack and then down in it!  I remember we all moved our chairs to be closer to the stacks and her parents and siblings moved to above where she was!  Now she commands the skies!

Sunshine doing real well
June 14, 2011 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Harry Crawford Reports:

When I arrived this morning at 7:30am, Sunshine was not where she
was when Linda shut the watch down last night.  The adults didn’t
seem concerned and were doing their usual hunting as well as
watching the nest ledge.  Around 10am, Teri from 85 Richmond West
had joined Zoe and I briefly and then she saw Sunshine come off the
roof area just above the nest.  It was a very controlled and strong
flight, disappearing above 120 Adelaide West.  Zoe and I went up to
the 43rd floor of the Sheraton and there she was, playing in a
puddle on the centre top of the 120 Adelaide penthouse.

The three remaining chicks were not particularly active and there
were a couple of food drops.  I left just after 11:30am.  Zoe and
Annie continued the watch.

It's easy, she says...just put out your wings and go...cannot figure out what she's talking about...

And now she's watching me!
