This was Rhea Mae and Tiago's 2nd clutch. That was Stormin's year. He's on the far right of the line-up.
Oh Stormin!! Thanks!

Boy am I glad I didn't switch over right away to announce someone was home...
Never thought I'd get a shot like this at the Sheraton!

!!! Back on the nest ledge - holding the fort so to speak!
December 14, 2011 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
CPF Postmaster Reports:
A huge thank you to Jesse for the recent update and photos of activity down at the Toronto Sheraton nest site where our resident peregrines were back on the nest ledge December 14th holding the fort as they say. Our southern Ontario peregrines must be enjoying all of the mild weather we’ve been having,, AND no snow to shovel!!!

None of the adults in southern Ontario migrate. Quest has been bopping around doing visits to the near east of where she nests but returns home weekly several times.
In cities there is no reason to migrate. They can all find shelter and pigeons are abundant!! This is a good thing really because it removes all the hazzards of migration and helps the Peregrines live longer lives.

For whatever reason, our current male Archer and his grandpa Kaver both migrated during the winter. Our females stick close to home. So interesting to watch their behavior.

I wonder why their behavior is so different north and south of Lake Ontario?

I've often wondered that myself Paul. We too have an abundance of pigeons and they certainly have shelter in any one of a million places downtown. Maybe the answer has to do with the lake somehow.

I suspect hassles at the border are the culprit.
Seriously its a good question and merits some investigation. Its not unique to the Toronto area,as seen by attending birds in Windsor and down at Lake Erie at Nanticoke. I believe there are Peregrines being spotted in London too. Alot of these birds are American as well so its not like a "Canadian population" just decided not to leave. We need a grant to study it

I agree! And many of the birds go up to Canada-- wonder why?
