Those are both good signs that Veteran will stay put.  With all the busy-ness of this season, starting with Pigott's departure, Beauty and Dot.ca's 2014 family and the discovery of Veteran and Luzerne, I haven't really looked for Billy in a long time.  Perhaps she moved on.  She is, after all, a peregrine.  It would indeed be sweet if she is still in the vicinity and would like to settle down and mate with Veteran. 

I too feel awful about Luzerne and Voyager.  The lump in my throat and the tears in my eyes re-appear just with typing their names.  At least they got to enjoy a year of beautiful flight.

Fall is coming and there will be migrating Falcons, so one never knows who may fly in! I hope Veteran finds himself a mate over the Winter months! Beauty can sure attract them, no reason Veteran can't. I agree Pat, just mentioning the names puts my heart in heaviness! A week I won't forget!

If one of the girls stayed in the vicinity it's possible. Not very likely though. Most disperse out of their natal area in the fall and don't generally return. The only one I can recall staying nearby for the 1st winter was Hafoc, who stayed south of town.

If you're correct, MAK, that would certainly explain her familiarity with ST.  I was going to ask if it could be Billy, but I didn't hear any mention of sub-adult coloring.  At what age does the juvie/sub-adult coloring start to disappear?

This is excellent.  Thanks, Kris.  It says that a pefa can be sporting adult plumage at 13 months. Billy is about 15 months old now, so that would fit. How wonderful that our watchers have possibly spotted two BANDED females in the past few days.  Let's hope they can eventually ID them.

I can see some immature feathers on this bird in MAK's photos or I'm imagining it? but I do see brown so she could indeed be Billie. 

 C&C have a good explanation of molting on their FB page with photos. 

As per C&C: First molts for peregrines are incomplete, meaning that they don't have every feathers replaced by the adult gray (which is why you can often see some remaining brown feathers on a young adult peregrine that has only gone through one molt).
