I noticed those black spots too, was hoping it wasn't a worry, but now seems like it could be serious?

OK, found one from last years hatch! The new little guy has some black under his wing!!

I don't know what it is but I've seen it on most of the new hatches here. I remember discussing it with someone on Orion and we were wondering if it was his late hatch. I didn't have time last night to go through all my saved photos but I found it back to 2013.

Everything bears watching...that's why we're here...but I don't see any reason to panic

just a thought maybe like blue feet it is something in DCs genes. if it hasnt been seen before  heart Orion wub2  since my boy was his first offspring

maybe a thorough cleaning of this box after the season is over just to be on the safe side might be in order, i worry because the roof leaks (mold, mildew, rot)

hopefully all goes well and we are worrying for nothing

Thanks for that photo from 2014, Donna.  It's a really good comparison, showing a small black spot and also a lot of pink around the belly, another thing that was mentioned.  I realize that at least two of our eyasses have fallen onto their backs, and while that is a concern, perhaps it's not for the reason mentioned in the discussion on BCAW.  Could it be that the scrape is a bit steeper in a few spots?  Or maybe that they're just a bit rougher on each other than our eyasses have been in the past?  Who knows?  Also, the HD stills we get can't be beat, so I'm wondering if these issues are more common than we think, and they just go unnoticed at most other cam sites while the eyasses recover on their own.
