Feeding! Beauty gave a lot of pieces to DC, for him to feed the eyases, but he ate most of the pieces himself.

I missed the start of feed but the pieces she fed him at the end the kids couldn't eat, mostly feathers/grizzle from what I saw. I was watching on the live feed for a bit.
It could be stranger...I was just outside here and Lucky and his new girlfriend were riding thermals together while Darcy incubates his eggs that are due to hatch any day. Just when I thought I'd seen everything

Just watched the 5pm feed. This reminds me of year 1 with this pair when Orion was hatched and DC tried to control the feedings. Maybe this is the way to moderate feedings, especially if he has to provide for 2 sites especially for the first few weeks until B can leave them alone and she can hunt to supplement. Just a thought.

Here is the after-7:30 PM feeding. Kind of long. You can jump ahead to approximately 6 min 50 sec when Beauty brings in dinner and dismisses DC.

5.38 am - Three babies. DC brought food and of course he's eating some of it, B seems to be outmaneouvering him this morning though...DC gets a bite, baby gets one..but only one baby getting food. He did give one of the kids one bite so far. The wee one in back is toppling over...he's a wee one. He's fallen over on his back now and no one has noticed and he's righted himself! He's trying to get a bit with no luck so far.
5.42 and B leaves with food.

Yay! Very strange feedings, so far, though.

Yay! Very strange feedings, so far, though.
Well, I, for one, am resisting the urge to over analyze the feedings. I suspect Beauty is very well aware there is another female in the territory and that Dot.ca has been with her. My thought is she may be adjusting her usual parenting to account for that and assure the best chance of survival for her eyases.
And one more edit-just as an FYI for new followers-newly hatched eyases do not need to eat for 24-48 hours. They get all the nutrition they need during that time from the yolk absorbed into their abdomen just before hatching.
