Maybe a fresh theme?

Horrible visions of Miss Shields telling me to write a theme.

I want a logo that conveys the essence of the peregrine falcon yet is simple enough to carve into a pumpkin.

I have no problem with the original and see no compelling reason to change.  However, I went to the samples looking for something that would be simple and not so abstract that one would have to spend time figuring it out.  None of the current candidates "said"  anything in particular to me.  I guess I'd have to say that the current logo has a history which, for me, trumps any of the current alternatives.

Anyone can sign up at crowdSpring as a designer.

Yes, but not everyone has the software to put ideas into motion.  Is there anything free on the internet that we can use?

Since the logo that would eventually end up on the Rfalconcam site and merchandise would need to be more than just an idea, any logo candidate that can't meet that criterion would probably be a poor choice.

In other words, if it's too difficult to post the logo on Crowdspring, it's probably too difficult to put it on Rfalconcam.

I think she's asking about graphic design/drawing software-unless there is something built in there & I just haven't gotten there yet...

I think having your own ability to design/draw a logo is table stakes.

I'd recommend the GIMP

It's a very powerful program, on par with Adobe Photoshop, but if you're not versed in its use, you may have a hard time learning what you'd need to in order to build a pro-quality logo in time to meet the submission deadline...

Is everyone going to have a vote for the new logo or just the powers that be?

Perhaps the deadline could be extended?

All input from the community is welcome and strongly encouraged. We want a logo that people truly like and don't want something that people can't stand.

It's a possibility.

BTW, if anyone decides to submit a logo to Crowdspring, please do it anonymously under a username other than what you normally go by. Let the submission stand on its own merit and not on your reputation.

Agreed.  I was thinking the same thing.

must keep checking ... more entries including #7 with big yellow feet. I like that one, also #6 and #40 both in black, but right now my favorite is #36, definitely a peregrine with a fierce proud look done in clean simple lines that manage to convey grace, power, and beauty.

Another question-do we have to accept the submission as is or can we request a minor revision either before or after the contest?

And check out a new submission...#45...
