She was preening earlier before Tiago came in - a good sign.  Tiago on egg now while she's out for breakfast.

It's been a strange day, RM was gone most of it.  Tiago and she both spent a bit of time with egg but Tiago more so.  He's back now but I don't see her yet.

Lady Millar in Cleveland laid her 4 th egg, 5 days after her 3rd but she was dealing with an intruder too.  And Tiago just flew off as I typed this last line.

Edit to add:  And she heard me, RM is back in the nest box.  Tiago by egg.

There must be some challenges going on. There are  so many healthy nesting age birds around now! Toronto is positively crowded...who ever thought we'd be able to say that!

I'll be happy if they all stay healthy. They were fine with one last year...even none this year will be fine as long as they're OK. We'll (knock wood) have plenty of babies to watch here in Rochester.

Sigh...

I wish for nothing but a healthy 1 eyas if possible and hope RM is not egg bound or having any other problems! After all, she is Rhea Mae!! This is just so weird!!  Sad

Still only 1 egg this am and no hard incubation!! I'm befuddled! Does anyone  know of anything going on in the area?? Where's the watchers that usually report??

Stopped by the site this morning as I had an errand in the down town core so I went out of my way to check on the site.  I don't know it that well but there were lots of cops due to the shooting overnight (someone died). No sight or sounds of falcons when I was there from 9.15 to 10.15. Lots of construction though .

Guys on the one solid reflective glass building - cranes everywhere - they still have 6.5 floors left to glass on that building. The one next to it, cranes and still 5 floors left to glass. Stages on building to the south on both the left and right with window washers - can't remember the names of the buildings but east and west of the Sheraton. The Bay - or Saks as it's now called is full of scaffolding on the outside as well. I saw the shelf that is one ledge over from the nest and observed all the white wash down the face of the building so I assume they perch there quite often.

For perspective:  That glass building you see right in front of the ledge to the left - that's the one that has 5 floors left to put glass on.  To the right of it - which you can't really see save for a sliver, is a brand new solid reflective glass curved building - that's the one that has 6.5 floors left to glass.  It also has one of those cages - that brings men up and down the building - and it was bringing people up when I was down there.  So I can only imagine how distressed the falcons must be.  The two building they have left to put the glass on - it's the top floors so they are at nest ledge level or above - so imagine they can see right into the ledge.

Also to the west and a bit south is King St nest, to the south is Rogers nest site and to the east is Mt Sinai (where Hunter is) and that's about the same distance from them as Stormin's nest is - so they are literally boxed in - and surrounded by cranes and noise.  Sad

Thanks for scoping it out carly. Well, I thought the construction was finished and I was obviously way wrong. It's actually at a worse stage now than last year. Certainly enough to have them off kilter.

I do hope that's most of the problem. If so there's still hope for next year if this egg doesn't get a sibling and proper incubation.

Thanks, Carly..appreciate your checking it out and reporting what's going on there.  Feel so bad for Rhea Mae and Tiago..also sad to hear that the buildings have so much glass as part of the construction. Tough times for city Falcons all around there.  Sad

Thanks so much for checking Carly. It's turning into a horrible area for Peregrines to raise young. So sad. It totally explains their behavior. All those windows will cause the loss of many fledglings. I wish they could find a safer area.
