I just saw that, can't wait for the report.  I was worried when I heard the banding guy say I don't like the look of his talons.

The chick has been given a check-up, and it's a BOY! Watch wqed.org/birdblog for more later today.

Yay!  Just watched the video on BCAW and, boy, was Dorothy mad!  So glad he's going to be with parents!

Update from Kate:

His sex is undetermined because he’s been slow in development – feathers and strength are at age 14 days – but he had no deformities and has a good change of catching up.

He did have feather parasites so he was treated with medication to remove them. So that problem virtually gone.

Right, so NOT Dorothy's age that caused the issues but parasites!  Ha!   silly  Was very surprised and happy to see him home with mom, hopefully the treatment they gave him for parasites works and he continues to do better.  wub2

The youngster is looking really great, and just based on size (perched next to Dorothy) is looking more like a female to me.  Juvie feathers are looking good, wingercizing and getting up on the green perch bar - coming along nicely!  This pic was posted on the Pitt Peregrines Facebook page this morning.   yahoo

It's got that fierce look around the eyes that its sister Beauty and niece Cadence have.

This is a great video clip!  I was chuckling at my desk at Dorothy's looks.  She looked at the cam as if to say 'and you all thought something was wrong with my baby"!  And Patsy is correct - the youngster does have a similar fierce determined look, like Beauty and Cadence.
