1-2-3-4! The 4th Eyas hatched late last night!

May 11th, 2019

Shortly before 10:16 pm, Beauty revealed both halves of the eggshell from her newly hatched eyas. We had to wait until this morning to get a look at all four eyases.

During this early morning feeding, you can clearly see four beaks.

We have a pip!

May 8th, 2019

As of very early this morning, we noticed a small hole in one of the eggs. This is known as a pip and behind that pip is a very busy eyas working to break out of its egg. Please go into our live streaming video to view the arrival of our first eyas. If you listen closely, you can actually hear chirps coming from the eggs!

Dot.ca’s Behavior

April 23rd, 2019

You may have noticed that Dot.ca (DC) hasn’t been spending as much time as usual at the Times Square nest box. As it turns out, one of our stalwart falcon watchers found DC spending time with another female at a site she regularly checks for migrating falcons. It looks like he and his new female have started nesting and might be sitting on eggs.

Dot.ca is doing what tiercels in close proximity to more than one female do, they spread their seed. He is trying to reproduce as many young as possible. DC is not thinking about the stress this causes both females. So, please don’t judge him by human standards. He is a Peregrine Falcon after all.

This site is unprotected, so we will not be sharing its location, but be assured both sites will be monitored by local watchers. Due to this situation, we ask that no reports or pictures be posted.

Thank you,
June

An Early 3rd Egg for Beauty and Dot.ca! – 4/4/19

April 4th, 2019

A third egg arrived a little earlier than we expected Thursday afternoon at 3:31 pm. Beauty usually averages between 58-59 hours between eggs. It was only 56 hours between her 2nd and 3rd egg. Nothing is ever certain in the world of the Peregrine Falcon! đŸ™‚
