We Here at Rfalconcam Are Very Happy to Announce that Beauty Has Laid An Egg!
At approximately 2:19 pm, some very excited Rfalconcam camera watchers reported that she laid an egg. She had been spending most of her time at or near the nest box the last couple days, so there were many Rfalconcam fans watching, anticipating the arrival of an egg.
Stay Tuned and keep watching!

Spring is almost upon us and I would like to wish you all an enjoyable peregrine breeding season. In the past few years funding and personnel cuts have been made at the DEC, due to budget cuts. Hence, the DEC will not have as much time in the future to find injured and dead falcons as they have in the past.
GVAS volunteers are only allowed to search, rescue and recover injured or dead peregrines only on the ground. We then work with the DEC to get the peregrine to a veterinarian or rehabilitator. We will have to give them all the time they need to get the task completed.
Please remember we will do our best to take care of situations when they arise but, these are wild animals that naturally have conflicts with territorial intruders. Sometimes these conflicts end in injury or death. Please try to remain calm during these times or remove yourself from the situation for the day. Emotional responses from a few people make these events even more unpleasant for the rest of us. Let us observe and help each other learn the life cycle and behavior of peregrine falcons.
Thank you.
June Summers, President, Genesee Valley Audubon Society

May all our wandering falcons return safely to their mates. May there be no arguments over territories. May many small eyases fill all the nest sites. May all the fledglings be successful. May all those that watch the falcons have a prosperous 2013!
Thank you for your continued support.
The Rfalconcam family wishes you and your families a very Happy New Year!

ROC the Day is only a a few hours away!
As previously mentioned, Rochester Area Community Foundation will be checking every two hours to see what registered organization has the most ROCstar donors during that time period. The organization with the most unique donors during each two-hour period will get an extra $1000 bonus. We are going to try to get that bonus during the first two hours. So stay up for a few more hours or set your alarm clock for midnight and then make a donation. It doesn’t have to be a big one. In fact, a small one might be better. You may want to make another donation later tomorrow if we have to make a second attempt at the $1000 bonus, which is tentatively planned for the two-hour period between 10 am and noon.
Stay tuned throughout the day tomorrow. You can get the latest news on our ROC the Day plans at our Forum or on our Facebook page. You can also follow us on Twitter.
By the way, the link to donate is http://www.roctheday.org/rfalconcam.

The merchandise Team has been working really hard to be able to offer new items in time for the holiday season.
There are many new items in our “Beauty Years” and “Rfalconcam Logo” collections.
We have also added a new category called the “B. Weaver Orion Collection”. Barb has very kindly given us permission to use her water color image of Orion. You might even see a small, familiar yellowish rock nearby. Thank you Barb!
Lastly, we are offering a very unique and beautiful candy jar which includes Barb’s image of Orion and our other contributing artist, Dale Pesmen’s image of an eyas & a blue jay feather, along with the Rfalconcam logo. Both Dale and Barb have allowed us to use these pictures and we thank them both. It can currently be seen under the “B. Weaver Orion Collection”.
Did you know that if you would like a specific design on a different style shirt or a different color than being shown, all you have to do is click on “See all Styles” under the “Color & Style Options”? There are many to choose from. Check it out!
Just click on this link to check out the RFalconcam Zazzle Store for these new items, offered just in time for the holidays and thank you for supporting the Rochester Falconcam!

Thanks to Rochester Falcon Watcher Joyce Miller, we have this wonderful news to share with everyone. Diamante has been positively ID’d and is the current tiercel (male) at the Central Terminal in Buffalo, NY! Here are a couple pics that Joyce took while visiting this nest site on Thursday, October 25th.
There will be more current pictures of Diamante shared as soon as we receive them.
Diamante’s band is 21/R black/green. He was named by Ms. Dawson’s Class, School 28, in Rochester, NY.
This year (2012), there was a change at Central Terminal in Buffalo, NY. Stash and Stella were gone and there was a new pair in town. The Buffalo and Rochester Falcon Watchers teamed up to attempt to get ID’s on this new pair. The female was ID’d fairly quickly. She is Gleig, hatched in 2009 at the Hamilton Sheraton Hotel nest site. The male continued to elude identification by the Watchers, until now!
We are very happy to announce that the new tiercel (male) at Central Terminal in Buffalo, NY this year is none other than our very own Diamante from 2008. He is the son of Mariah and Kaver and brother of Quest, Linn & Rhea Mae. He hatched the same year as Quest. Here are some pictures of a very young Diamante and his brothers & sisters.
Diamante and Susan B were the last to hatch in 2008, but they very quickly caught up with their siblings Quest, Seneca, & Zephyr. Here are a couple of pics from 2008. The first one is Diamante peaking through the tree branches on the gorge wall. The second picture is of Diamante and Quest in a game of talon tag above the Genesee River.
In 2012, two young females hatched on at the nest box at Central Terminal, Alfreda & Wagner. The Mariah & Kaver Legacy continues!
