A Falcon Watch at Charlotte at Lake Ontario/Genesee River – 1/31/11
Tuesday, February 1st, 2011Rochester Falcon Watcher: Carol P.
My watch started out this morning with a Falcon sighting north of Kodak Park. This was Lady Pefa’s territory, so I hoped it was her I had seen her hunting. Then I headed downtown and watched Beauty and Mr T (the visiting Tiercel) on the old Changing Scenes Restaurant. After about an hour and 1/2, they hadn’t moved, so I headed down to Lake Ontario where we’ve been keeping an eye on a female Peregrine that has been seen there and at Irondequoit Bay. We assume it is the same bird. When I first arrived, there were thousands of gulls in the air above the almost totally frozen Genesee River where it empties into Lake Ontario. I quickly parked my car and grabbed my binoculars. What I witnessed for the next 15 minutes or so was pretty intense. You can see pictures and read my report here:
Hope this works. No sign on needed.
Enjoy!
